Master of Software Engineering - Entry Requirements
The aim of this masters program is to prepare and/or update experienced software
engineers in the software development scene with the skills and the up-to-date
knowledge appropriate to taking significant responsibility on a large software
project.
Students in the program are not 'retreading' into a computing career; rather,
they will be learning state-of-the-art methods and improving their skills
beyond the level of the new graduate in software engineering.
Entry requires one (or more) degrees in Systems Engineering, Electronics Engineering,
Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or other
computing-related areas, preferably at Honours level.
A high standard is expected for admission to this postgraduate degree and a
transcript that covers previous study will be required and evaluated. However,
it is realized that people can improve with age and so other evidence of
academic ability can be considered in the light of sterling professional
experience.
Two or more years of relevant experience is assumed!
This time will normally be in paid employment in the software development arena,
at least at the level of a new IT graduate or systems engineer.
Successful applicants will normally have considerable experience in at least one
of requirements engineering, analysis and design, software implementation or
project management.
